Doctors' Body Calls for Strict Action Against Unsafe Coaching Centres, Writes to PM Modi

In a significant move, a leading doctors' body has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the government to take immediate and stringent action against unsafe coaching centres across the country. The appeal comes in the wake of growing concerns over fire safety violations, overcrowded classrooms, inadequate emergency exits, and poor infrastructure in several coaching institutes.

The association has emphasized that while coaching centres play a crucial role in shaping the future of lakhs of students preparing for competitive examinations like NEET, JEE, and UPSC, they must also ensure a safe and secure learning environment. Educational excellence should always go hand in hand with student safety.

The doctors' body has reportedly sought mandatory safety audits, regular inspections, strict enforcement of building and fire safety norms, and severe penalties for institutions found violating prescribed guidelines. It has also urged authorities to establish a robust monitoring mechanism to prevent such lapses in the future.

The demand gains significance as incidents involving unsafe educational buildings have repeatedly raised questions about regulatory oversight and accountability. Parents entrust coaching institutes not only with their children's education but also with their well-being.

A classroom should be a place of learning, confidence, and growth—not a source of fear or danger. Ensuring safety standards is not merely a legal obligation but a moral responsibility. Strengthening regulations and enforcing compliance will help build an education system where every student can pursue their dreams in a secure environment.
