NEET PG Counselling 2025: Stray Vacancy Round Now Open

Lucknow’s medical authority just kicked off the stray vacancy admissions for NEET PG 2025. If you’re still hoping for a seat in an MD, MS, diploma, or DNB program, here’s your shot—these are leftover spots from earlier state quota rounds, only in UP colleges. The Directorate General wasted no time putting out all the details and the timeline. You’ll need to check your eligibility before diving in. The new instructions lay out every step, from signing up to the final seat allotment. Basically, these are the seats nobody claimed earlier, so this round is here to fill those gaps. If you’re aiming for postgrad medicine and missed out before, now’s your chance. Everything follows the state’s admission rules, so pay attention to the guidelines.

This is the last call. Once Round 3 wraps up, any seats still floating around go up for grabs. Some students leave, some never get picked, and this is when you get another shot. It’s 2025, and seats open up whenever someone drops out. If your name fits an empty slot, you’re in.

UP NEET PG Stray Vacancy Key Dates

Here’s what you need to know from the latest DGME update:

- Online registration and security money payment: February 20, 2026 (starts at 11:00 AM) to February 23, 2026 (ends at 9:00 AM)

- Payment window closes: Three days after registration opens, so pay up before the morning of the 23rd. Don’t miss the deadline.

When it’s time to lock in your choices or see your seat allotment, just watch for new DGME announcements on the UP-NEET website. Those updates tell you what to do next, so keep checking—there won’t be extra reminders.

Eligibility and Who Can Apply

You can join the stray vacancy round if you match all the requirements. Here’s the rundown:

- You didn’t get a seat in rounds one, two, or three of UP NEET PG counselling.

- You’ve registered fresh for this round and paid the combined registration and security fee (three thousand rupees).

You’re out if:

- You got a seat before but never showed up and didn’t officially withdraw.

- You’ve already been admitted to a postgraduate course anywhere in India through AIQ or state quotas, including reserved categories or non-general pathways.

If you locked in a seat by any of those methods, you can’t participate again.

Counselling Guidelines You Need to Know

Showing up in person is a must. If you get a seat in this round, you have to finish registration face-to-face—skip this and you’ll lose your security money. Worse, you might not get another chance at a seat in future rounds. The rules are tight, and once time’s up, there’s no bending them.

If you already hold a seat but want to try for something better, you can still participate by resigning your current spot before noon on February 21, 2026. Step away in time, and you might land a better fit if something opens up later. Miss that window, and your old seat sticks.

Need help with registration, picking options, or the paperwork? DGME has phone and email support ready—no live chat, just those two. If you get stuck or confused, reach out during working hours. If you can’t get through, try again the next day. Those are the only support channels for now.

2025 Counselling at a Glance

Once seats start filling, marks matter a little less. Every round, choices get locked and the lineup changes as people move around. Timing quietly shapes it all. The first three rounds are over, and you can check the results online at the state’s NEET website. Assignments are public and updated.

Some didn’t make it through the main rounds—either by not showing up or not following the rules. The Directorate General listed those names for the record.

But since some programs still had empty seats, DGME launched this extra round, following the MCC’s schedule closely.

How to Apply: Quick Steps

1. Go to the official UP NEET PG counselling website.

2. Register online for the stray vacancy round — it’s a fresh start, so fill in your details again.

3. Pay the registration and security deposit before the deadline. Don’t wait until the last minute.

4. Once the portal opens, upload your documents and lock in your choices.

5. Keep an eye out for seat allotment updates. If you get a seat, report to the institute on time.

(DGME will announce exact deadlines for filling in your choices on the portal, so watch for those updates.)

Final Note

The stray vacancy round really is the last shot for NEET PG 2025 candidates hoping for a seat under the UP-state quota. Registration has already started. If you’re aiming for a seat, finish every step early, stick to the deadlines, and think carefully before locking your choices.

Check the official UP NEET PG counselling site often for updates, and follow whatever instructions DGME posts. Don’t miss anything — it could make all the difference.
